Chapter 1: The Sun
The Sun in your birth chart represents the primary creative
thrust for this lifetime, those qualities you are to develop (or
further develop) and express, and your current life focus. This
may be in harmony with your instincts and your emotional habits,
or along completely different lines. The Sun represents your
conscious identity in this lifetime.
Sun in Taurus:
Your soul development in this lifetime involves fully
immersing yourself in matter, the physical world, and your
senses. The ramifications of this are many.
First of all, you very much enjoy the fruits of the earth
in a simple, uncomplicated way. You have a deep rapport with
nature and its rhythms, and if you cannot live in the country,
you need at least to have a view of some natural beauty or to be
surrounded with living or growing things. You have a strong
affinity for plants. Regular contact with the land, forests,
mountains, or your garden restores you, and without it you lose
your center and your peace. When you are at your best, you
function like a healthy animal, following what your instincts
and your senses tell you. Your well known stubbornness and
resistance to change is in part a reflection of your strong need
to follow your own instincts and proceed at your own natural
pace. As a wise one once phrased it "A soul must never be
pushed or driven, but allowed to unfold naturally, like a flower
blossoming bit by bit in the sunshine". This sense of a natural
unfolding process underlies your tendency to be both steadily
patient and very obstinate when faced with the need to make
sudden moves or adapt to changes. Furthermore, your
contribution in life has to do with building (solid foundations,
assets, structures) and continuing, sustaining, and preserving
what has already been attained (thus, your disinclination to
embrace innovation or change).
Your willfulness, which is quite strong, has the qualities
of the earth itself - heavy, immovable, dense, enduring, and
constant - and in terms of character or soul development this
may work for or against you. You are not easily impacted or
influenced by others, and you tend to ignore subtle hints and
clues that you are not on the right track. Thus, you will
persist in an endeavor until you are shown in some very gross,
unmistakable way that you cannot or should not. In this way,
you can make some egregious errors, carving deep grooves or
patterns which are very hard to change.
Positively, of course, this same tenacity enables you to
accomplish your desires through sheer persistence and stamina.
You can be a stabilizing, grounding force for the people around
you, which is part of your soul-purpose.
Your earthiness also indicates that you are attuned to that
which is tangible, material, solid, substantial, real and
present. You tend to distrust or discount what is intangible or
abstract. Unless you see physical evidence, concrete facts, or
"proof", you are unlikely to believe something is possible, and
you give little credence to some speculative idea which has no
concrete application or actual usefulness. A desire to own land
or to have solid financial assets and to insure that your basic
material needs are well taken care of, is another aspect of this
basic earthiness. The mundane world - money, work, taking care
of and enjoying the physical body - is your arena.
You are very body oriented, and you respond very much to
physical appearances, to physical beauty and to the sensual
aspect of things (how it looks, feels, smells, tastes). The
benefit of this is simply that you fully enjoy your sensuality
and your creaturehood. You have a great capacity for
contentment, for enjoying things as they are, and for partaking
in the pleasures which are all around you and readily available.
However, you may spend inordinate amounts of time and energy on
your body, dealing with your appetites and desires for material
comfort, security, and pleasure. Enjoying but not being
completely dominated by your appetites and desires is the key
here. You also need to beware of being taken in by superficial,
outer appearances, and thus missing the deeper aspects of a
person or situation.
Chapter 2: Saturn, Your Achilles Heel
Karmically considered, the placement of Saturn in your
birth chart indicates where your energetic blockages, weaknesses
and fears lie, and the areas of your life where the most
concentrated effort and discipline will be required to master
and overcome them. Yet it also points to the aspects of life
which can become your greatest strength if you are willing to
face your fears and difficulties honestly, and work with them
patiently.
Saturn in Cancer
You have great fears of being vulnerable and needy, of
being hurt or rejected, of letting others see the dependent,
childlike, tender, feeling side of yourself. You may stifle
these feelings and put on an armor of detachment or stoicism,
shouldering everyone else's burdens and responsibilities but
never letting on that you would like to be taken care of
sometimes.
Although you crave acceptance and a feeling of belonging,
you may distance yourself from the very people who might
genuinely care for you (whenever they get too close) or you may
deny altogether your needs for human connection and intimacy.
You feel awkward and clumsy expressing tenderness or anything
resembling sentimentality, and may feel quite aloof from your
family (as well as the softer side of your own nature). On the
other hand, you may cling tenaciously to your home and family as
a base of security, and depend on them excessively or need
constant reassurance from them. An inordinate emphasis on
loyalty and responsibility in personal relationships (on your

A karmic tie to your mother, a strong sense of indebtedness
and/or guilt, or the deep feeling that something was missing in

parenting, and giving and receiving nurturance, are crucial for

Saturn Square Jupiter:
In this lifetime any tendency you have had toward over
expansion or overblown aspirations is checked. Your mobility and
freedom may be severely limited in some way, perhap due to
fluctuating financial circumstances, physical ailments, or
unalterable personal commitments. Many ups and downs will test
your faith.
Your big challenge is to recognize and accept boundaries
and limitations, while working in regular, consistent ways
toward improving your life or position. Developing patience and
contentment with the process is important, otherwise you are apt
to swing high and low, and to lose faith and confidence. An
attitude of "voluntary simplicity" can be helpful.
Chapter 3: The Hard Aspects
The following is a description of your MAJOR LIFE
CHALLENGES, both in terms of energies you are to learn to
develop and express in a positive way, and those which are the
result of struggles and unresolved karmic issues which you have
brought into this life.
Mercury Square Mars:
One of your challenges in this lifetime is to learn to use
your sharp intellect and quick tongue in ways that are
constructive and beneficial to you and those around you. At
your worst you can be verbally abusive, overpowering others with
your intellectual arguments or criticism, and create enormous
animosity and ill will in the process. Try not to bark orders
or command or be so quick to turn all of you encounters into an
opportunity to prove yourself right. You may thus gain a
reputation for being pushy and quarrelsome which certainly will
not work in your favor. The hard-shell approach generally back
fires.
Certainly there are some arenas where a clear, sharp
intellect and the ability to state your opinions forcefully are
an asset, courtroom law, for instance, or in certain academic
climates and pursuits. Confrontation, self-assertion, and
expressing anger does have its place, but when you are out of
balance with this energy you can experience severe headaches,
accident proneness (especially those involving travel, sharp
instruments or breaking glass), nervous tension, and, as implied
above, discordant relations with people.
It would be helpful for you to learn and regularly practice
deep breathing and relaxation techniques to calm your nervous
system. Wearing or carrying certain gemstones may facilitate
this also, such as rose quartz, jade, emerald, peridot, or
chryroprase. More than anything, however, awareness is the key.
Rather than blaming the outside world for things that irritate
you, look instead at your own penchant to be argumentative and
irritated. If you can harmonize this aspect of your nature, you
will evolve a brilliance and clarity of mind, along with the
energy and decisiveness to act on your creative ideas.
Mercury Quincunx Jupiter:
Forging a link between your conscious intellect and your
super-conscious or higher mind is a major focus for you in this
lifetime.
This may be felt initially in a number of ways: an urge to
expand mental horizons and absorb as much knowledge as possible
through broad study or world travel, an attraction to spiritual
philosophy, or simply as mental restlessness and dissatisfaction
with the mundane details of life. What you are seeking is to
see the larger pattern, an overview which gives both an
integrated understanding and meaning to one's experiences. This
cannot be apprehended solely through the conscious intellect,
but comes through the capacity to intuit and make connections
and see patterns. This desire to see the big picture sometimes
translates as a certain sloppiness or imprecision in your
thinking. The broad brush strokes are often enough for you.
Also, you quickly grasp the overall idea or concept and do not
want to get bogged down with the particulars.
You tend to focus on what is possible (the limitlessness of
potential) rather than what already is. Optimistic and
open-minded, you see reasons why things could happen rather than
why they cannot. The development of this kind of faith and the
belief in things not yet realized is also an aspect of your
linking your conscious mind to your higher mind.
The ability and the calling to communicate truth is a part
of this energy pattern as well. When out of balance you can be
preachy, exaggerate what you know, or think you know it all.
Channeled positively and productively, you could evolve into a
teacher who brings parts of the world together. Long distance
communication and journeys (both in the physical, outer world
and in the inner realms) are part of this aspect. At your
finest with this particular pattern, you will act as a mediator
or bridge between different places or realms.
Mars Conjunct Pluto:
In this lifetime you must confront the nature of power, and
you have the opportunity to transform your relationship to
power, clear away deep-seated anger and resentment, and release
karmic patterns of perpetrator/victim.
If, in your past, you have been the victim of aggression,
ruthless force, or misdirected male energy - you may
subconsciously fear or even hate men, have great mistrust of
people in power or experience problems in sexual relationships
(the arena where power/fear dynamics are often most apparent).
In addition, you are prone to self-repression, either of anger
or of your own strength. If you have very little energy,
consider yourself a weak person, or become extremely
uncomfortable when others express any anger, you may be holding
down a great deal of hostility. Or, you may be angry all of the
time "for no reason". The question of appropriate expression of
these intense energies is a delicate one. While repressing them
can wreak havoc on your health and sense of well-being, you do
not want to unload the deep rage of centuries on innocent
people. You may hold your anger or aggression back not only
because you fear repercussions (you may have been bludgeoned to
a pulp in the past), but also because you sense that whatever is
triggering your emotions in the present is not the real problem.
In a word, you overreact. (Wanting to kill someone because they
forgot to walk the dog is an overreaction).
On the other hand, you may carry an immense burden of guilt
because you have been the one who misused your power, strength
and/or sexual energies in the past.
Another way you may be expressing this energy is to be
intensely and compulsively competitive, acting as if each and
every event is a mighty struggle for supremacy, a contest with
life or death consequences that you MUST WIN at all costs. You
may become compulsively active and productive and driven to
"succeed" at all costs. This type of thinking and being creates
great stress on your physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies.
Very likely it will also have a negative impact on all of your
relationships. You will make a lot of enemies and actually
force people to turn against you and bring you to your knees.
Ruthlessness attracts ruthlessness.
Coming into balance with all of this is a major challenge.
Finding a safe place to explore your war-like, destructive, and
sadistic self can help. Another key is becoming sufficiently
detached so that you can feel and acknowledge all of these
energies, and choose when and how to express them without being
"taken over" by them. If you are willing to become conscious,
you can actually become a great force for good, and can heal and
release some very deep wounds you have carried for a long time.
Jupiter is Retrograde:
Moral concerns (including lingering unresolved issues
stemming from a prior lifetime or lifetimes in which you
exercised poor judgment in moral, ethical, or religious matters)
come into play here. Thus, it is especially important for you
to maintain high standards while pursuing your aspirations.
Neptune is Retrograde:
The above is complicated by the fact that you had a prior
lifetime or lifetimes in which you dissipated your energy, fell
away from your disciplines, or were too passive or irresolute to
go after the spiritual opportunities open to you at that time.
This carries over as a vague yet persistent inner nagging that
you should be further on than you are, or a fear of spiritual
failure. You may also have been involved in mystical or magical
practices that created distortions in your life. It is
important for you to take a balanced, patient, well-grounded

glamourous. Indulging in any mood-altering substances is
particularly deleterious for you.
Venus Conjunct North Node:
Your growth direction also includes becoming more loving,

revolutionary, a freedom fighter or engaged in activities that
required considerable audacity, courage, and willingness to
forego conventionality. Because of this you may be somewhat
addicted to high-intensity excitement.
On the positive side, you are unusually capable of handling
all sorts of challenges and emergencies. You act quickly and
decisively in response to a crisis, and can take up the sword
and execute drastic measures if necessary. You are at your best
in moments of danger, and may gravitate toward or unconsciously
