Security issues, or perhaps more accurately, insecurity issues often emerge during this cycle. They can manifest in a number of ways, but they usually relate to unresolved elements of your past. This usually includes family matters and members, which tend to frustrate you and create obstacles to the enjoyment of your life now. Responsibilities can become more pressing now and demand a larger portion of your time than you desire. Parents and being a parent may cause you to look at yourself more carefully, as your shortcomings, real or perceived, tend to show clearly.
To the extent that you can accept the reality of a particular situation likely will determine the measure of discomfort or pain you may experience. Although you sometimes want to withdraw from all contact, it usually indicates an avoidance of what is in front of you. However, being alone is a proper response when your motive is to come to terms with your vulnerability and ultimately your strength. Because insecurities generally rise to the surface now, facing them can bring a profound awareness of what really sustains you despite what you may have believed. This realization can bring you in touch with a much deeper connection to life than before.
Refusing to appreciate the accuracy of this cycle to pinpoint your vulnerabilities can cause you to resist or to deny that you even have any weaknesses. It is part of the human condition to have frailties and is a part of this period to expose them. Acknowledging them to yourself and to others can generate support from worthy friends and can allow you to experience the meaning of being nurtured, especially if that was absent in some way in your formative years.
Generally, this is a challenging interval, which repeats every 14 years, because it often activates neglected memories or reveals unhealthy patterns of behavior that have their basis in the past. Know that this period will end, but also ?know thyself?, so that you can learn to accept the many eccentricities that make you unique. You can learn to acknowledge the strength that comes from weakness when it is seen as conditional rather than the enduring truth.

This will be a very difficult year for you emotionally. You’re much more demanding of yourself and highly self-critical, and tend to weigh your accomplishments against an impossibly high standard that you’ve set for yourself. No matter what you’re accomplishing in the outside world or how successful you are, it will seem like you just can’t cut yourself any slack. You need to feel a sense of inner fulfillment in your work, but during this time you feel a conflict between the demands of your career and activities in the outside world, and your need for personal happiness and contentment. This period of time may directly relate to new cycles that you initiated about 14 years ago, and is a time of perspective. You may need to make some adjustments to the organization of your life if the demands and responsibilities of your career are taking precedence over your emotional needs. This process of self-evaluation is often mirrored in the actions of other people, as they’re also more critical and demanding of you. It’s very hard to reach out, as you tend to feel more emotionally drained now. Authority figures, family members and women will be especially tough on you and you should try not to take their comments too personally. You should avoid comparing your level of success to what you see other people accomplishing, as you’re a distinct individual with your own particular needs. You’re now entering a period of intense self-evaluation that will help clarify those needs. Unfortunately, this process is not fun and may be painful at times, as discontentment is often the catalyst to help us define what we need to be happy. Try not to take your emotional feelings too seriously and know that you’ll emerge from this process with a deeper appreciation for your emotional needs, and more balance in your life.
